How to create a character on ResWorld
Creating a character or any mud can be quite daunting if you have never done so before, but it is really quite straightforward. To create a character on ResWorld simply read this page, or print it out, log on and then follow these
1: Choosing a name
When you first log on, you will be asked for your name. This is not your real name, but the name you would like your character to be called. Try to keep your name a reasonable length and not too complex as you will have to type it in each time you log on and other players will have to type it in to talk to you. As a guideline, try to keep your name in line with the medieval/fantasy theme of the mud, as modern names can look a little odd.
2: Choosing a password
Once you have entered the name of your character, you will be prompted to enter a password. The password is very important and should be kept secret at all times, as it stops other people from using your character. Your password should be at least six letters or numbers long and should be easy to remember, but not the same as your characters name, your name or be the same as a password you have elsewhere. Once you have entered your password, you will be asked to type it in again as a check to see that you entered the password you intended to use to start with. You will need to enter your password every time you log onto ResWorld.
3: Choosing a sex
When you have entered and confirmed your password, you will be asked to enter the sex of your character, either male or female. There are no rules on ResWorld saying that your character has to be the same sex as you are, but some players may take offence if you attempt to deceive them in this way.
4: Entering your E-mail address
You will now be prompted to enter your e-mail address if you have one. If you don't have an address simply enter 'none' but if you do, please enter it as it makes it possible to contact you if there is a problem with either your character or the mud as a whole. Your e-mail address is not disclosed to other players.
5: Start playing
You should now be in the game, don't worry if things are a little confusing to start with, everyone has been in your position at some time in the past. If you do feel totally lost, simply ask a player to help you by typing 'tell [playername] [your question]' to get some help.
